Five public houses or ale houses were to be found in Lodsworth parish in the past, and four of these still thrive today. Two, The Hollist and the Lickfold Inn, have traded as inns since at least the 17th century. The Halfway Bridge appeared later and The Three Moles came with the opening of Selham station on the Pulborough to Midhurst railway line.
Lodsworth Arms, also called ‘Old Bells Beer House’ and, presumably colloquially, ‘The Grubber’, was licenced to sell ale. It closed around 1956 but signs of the layout and bar counter are still to be seen in the building today.
